Fringe Firsts

Criticulous on the microphone, dropping scientific critique. Mad Cyril was meant to write this up, but he's having a sleep. The first Fringe Firsts were flipped on Friday, it's all theatre, no dance or cabaret. I was hoping to take the piss, but the line up looks like this.

  • Cuckooed - Lakin McCarthy in association with Traverse Theatre Company - Traverse Theatre
  • Chef - pop - Underbelly, Cowgate
  • The Collector - Henry Naylor / Gilded Balloon - Gilded Balloon
  • Confirmation - Chris Thorpe and Rachel Chavkin - Northern Stage at King's Hall
  • Men in the Cities - Chris Goode and Company in association with Royal Court Theatre - Traverse Theatre
  • Spoiling - Traverse Theatre Company - Traverse Theatre
There won't be too much controversy, although the names are very traverse-y. Confirmation, I agree (but it is a bit all masculinity). Nice to see Mahfouz gets one, Chef's a tasty piece, well done. The Collector has got a good script, sadly the direction badly slipped. I hope their next set gets more bold: there are some things we don't need to be told. Like The Traverse puts on a quality menu : have they bothered to visit another venue?

But that's the worst I've got to say. Disappointingly, this list's okay.
