Three More. See What You Fancy...

I have just cut and pasted the release from the Facebook group, because I am struggling to make sense of what it is going to be. However, I do that there are two performance pieces included: There is no God and you are an Arsehole (a shambolic pantomime based on the writing of Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins, two of the least nuanced critics of religion, but at least one of them knows his biology) and Gay and Immigrant (ultra-ironic performance piece about the effects of racism...and sloppy blowjobs).

Here you go. Good luck picking the bones out of this description.

First ever event under the LBoT Presents patron-ship. After over a year of providing madness to the masses, we are expanding into event production and offering you this here performance baby.

We brought Gay and Immigrant from early retirement, made them sweat like bitches they are in order to prepare an extra special treat for you - the launch of their newest production 'Gay and Immigrants - The Origins' accompanied by performances of their old time favourite classics 'Gay and Immigrant' and 'Fellatio'. You might love it, it is very possible you will hate it but bored you shall be not!

Roll up! Roll up! See the surreal comedic shat-fest of SHAMBOLICA! Gather round to witness the amazing Klaus the Clown and Baron Punch perform stupendous acts of art eccentricities and puppetry, which will stupefy and offend.

They have traveled from deepest Kazakhstan, to mildest France, with their amazing box of art tricks and musical wonders where the only objective is to entertain!
SHAMBOLICA! speaks an agenda of freedom, truth and expression. Possibilities endless. Where chaos and destruction reign free over the creative imagination.

And that is not all - we went into the darkest and most unforgiving back alleys of Glasgow to dig out, pick up from the pavement, scrape off the walls the creme ala creme of performance experiment - The Man From Ultra, The DDN, Blood Blood

It's gonna be a beaut!

and all of this for a mere fiver!

If that's not working for you (frankly, I wouldn't miss it for the world), how about a book launch at the CCA? Aye Aye Books is celebrating the launch of Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan's Amongst other things an unsuccessful proposal for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Tatham and O'Sullivan recently convinced Tramway to put on a one man show that was basically a long version of a cheap joke. Sure, they went all high concepts and played around with performance theory, but it was somewhere between an interesting conceptual lark and an example of why visual artists end up getting exposed as charlatans when they move out of their comfort zones. It wasn't bad, but the points they made about the nature of performance weren't that profound, and the lack of broader meanings (art about art is a yawn) left it all rather sterile.

However, the book looks fun: "continues the artists’ dialectical approach to art practice; re-working the images and documents generated by four projects to consider, amongst other things, the role and function of contemporary art in the public sphere."

The word dialectic is a big warning sign to me: it's a bit Marxist. The second part is more intriguing, though.

On a more romantic note, the Victorian Bar at the Tron has a double whammy of musical magic. Judith Williams is sharing the American songbook (that's jazz classics) over two nights. Night one (Valentine's Day) is the one for lovers. The night after is for the broken hearted.
