What was the inspiration for this performance?
Colombia has a real dynamic force propelling it forward, that force is human.

Living a couple of years in Bogota, where daily life is really accelerated, has without doubt influenced our questioning of what we wanted to explore. And the artists positioned in todays world. er...are we third, first or the brave new World?

Is performance still a good space for the public discussion of ideas?
Definitely.

How did you go about gathering the team for it?
Really mixed creative team with some trail and errors along the way. Our Theatre Director is Renato Rocha from Rio, Music Director Ryan Wilmott who worked and found stems with loads of local bands and studios back in Colombia, Choreo Carlos Neto who's Portuguese New Yorker, additional Creative midwifery with Mark Storor, Movement by Jose Henry Caycedo Casierra from Colombia, finally Creative Producer Felicity Simpson.

How did you become interested in making performance?
I was a circus artist with my Colombian partner last century in Brazil.. we had a brilliant career, touring, travelling, creating and sharing in so many places. Moving onto today....

Uniting youth and celebrating their achievements in excellent and innovative productions which go out into the world gives a whole heap of job satisfaction, as is helping young people start their own journeys of self-discovery and development.

Is there any particular approach to the making of the show?
Collective Creation - and the delicate art of making sure the Directors understand we are gathering and choosing from the artists input, not dictating ideas down.

Also never taking oneself too seriously.

Does the show fit with your usual productions?
Yes

What do you hope that the audience will experience?
Life, love laughter and maybe drippling saliva as mouths gape open…

What strategies did you consider towards shaping this audience experience?
Never thought of 'strategies' We just do what we love.

Having taken London’s Roundhouse by storm with their explosive debut show Urban, this electrifying troupe will bring their unique and visceral performance style to Edinburgh with Acéléré.

The young company includes some of the most revered circus performers in the world.

Felicity co-founded Circo Para Todos, the first professional circus school in the world specifically dedicated to underprivileged children, which became in 2005 Colombia’s National Circus School, a key institution in South America for world circus training and where she remains Chair. In 2006 she created Circolombia ltd.
