Woodstock (the event out of the 1960s) is not really my scene: there's a story where Pete Townsend, off The Who, booted Abbie Hoffman, off getting arrested for political agitation. Abbie was trying to give it some political rhetoric: Pete just wanted to rock.
That tension, between musicians who liked art and/or cash, and activists who saw the counter-culture as the promising revolution, would eventually resolve into the 1970s' inertia... so buying a poster probably is the best thing next to being there... you can make a confused gesture from the comfort of your own home, without worrying that the brown acid is bad.
