Oh no! My inbox is so full that I have mixed up various press releases! Can you sort out which play goes with which release?
But when her real husband – a vicar whose main love is writing the 60-page history of the parish – arrives home, we realise that Susan has created an entire fantasy family as an antidote to the real one.
Soon, as Susan becomes increasingly bewildered, the two worlds start to overlap – and finally collide, leading to situations of hilarious but agonising awkwardness.
‘It’s wrong to bottle things up, then? At worst, there’ll be an almighty explosion and a great deal of damage. Even at best, you’re liable to finish up with your dinner all over the ceiling’.
Something, but something, will have to give...
(Release 2): West Avenue is pleased to announce that a love story about a gay Londoner living with HIV, is returning to the capital for a three-week run this spring from 13 May - 1 June at Waterloo East Theatre.
The London run follows a successful stint at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013 and a sold-out performance at the Waterloo East Theatre on World AIDS Day last December.
“If Britney can get through 2007, then I can get through today.”
Benji's mantra has got him through the first year following his HIV diagnosis, and now the time has come to grab life by the balls and start to live again.
With assistance from fun-loving housemate Nikki, guidance from his overbearing mother, and just a little help from Britney, Benji finally decides to get his love life back on track. Inspired by true stories, this is an honest and uplifting tale about an ordinary guy living with one of Britain's most misunderstood diseases.
Playwright Shaun Kitchener, who has just completed the Royal Court’s Young Writers’ Programme, says: “The play has had a really exciting journey over the last year and continually received great reactions, and we are looking forward to showing this fresh script to a new audience.
“I think the story we're trying to tell is still as relevant as ever; challenging the inaccurate preconceptions around people living with HIV in a light-hearted but honest way. It’s not really about ‘illness’; it’s ultimately a love story – and hopefully a taboo-busting one at that.”
(Release 3):King’s Theatre Glasgow, Mon 2 – Sat 14 June
The smash hit musical comedy inspired by the songs of Rod Stewart, that premiered in the West End in 2003 and went on to play sold-out theatres across the UK, has hit the road again as part of a new UK tour.
Set on the mean streets of Detroit and in the glamorous clubs of uptown LA, the show tells the story of Stu, a shy young man, so tongue tied that he cannot find the courage to declare his love to the girl of his dreams. How different he is to his hero, that legendary rock n’ roll vagabond Rod Stewart! One night our hero strikes a deal with the Devil, trading his soul for Rod’s. It seems like a good idea at the time but he’s is about to find out the hard way that you can’t find true love using another man’s moves and that devil or no devil, there’s only one Rod Stewart!
With a book by multi award-winning writer and comedian Ben Elton (We Will Rock You), it features spectacular staging, a world class band, dazzling choreography and includes over 20 classic Rod Stewart hits like Hot Legs, Baby Jane, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Maggie May, This Old Heart of Mine, I Don’t Wanna Talk About It, Ooh La La, Some Guys Have All the Luck, Forever Young, Sailing and many more.
Rod Stewart said: “In the past, any ideas for musicals revolving around my songs just didn't work for me. I'm absolutely thrilled that this great show is touring the UK again.”
Says Ben Elton: “Rod is such a totally unique artist. I initially approached him about a musical because his songs are all about storytelling and I felt that a great story could grow from them.”
