Nicht Fertig/Not Finished: Reykjavik Arts Festival





This years festival will be held under the heading Nicht Fertig/Not Finished and will take place from the 22 May - 5 June. 

Nearly 500 artists will participate in or contribute to this extensive diverse festival, featuring over sixty concerts, theatre productions, film screenings, performances and exhibitions. T

he focus of the 28th Reykjavík Arts Festival is on the artistic process in a wide context. One of the roles of Reykjavík Arts Festival is to support artistic innovation and this year new commissions and premieres feature prominently in the festival programme.

Hanna Styrmisdóttir , artistic director of the Arts Festival comments: " This cooperation with Síminn enables the Reykjavik Arts Festival to reach as many people as possible, a mission we are dedicated to for the coming years and future of the festival. Högni Egilsson
Högni Egilsson is an accomplished multi-instrumental musician. He regularly composes for and performs with Icelandic bands Hjaltalin, Gus Gus and Gluteus Maximus. His most notable compositions include music and songs for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s critically acclaimed production of The Heart of Robin Hood; Angels of the Universe at the Icelandic National Theatre and most recently the score for the 2013 film Days of Gray. This spring, the Reykjavík Wind Quintet commissioned and performed a new piece entitled Tetiana Chornovol’s Moment.
