The Glasgow School XI: some questions

Here we go, then. Hoping to get this lot deconstructed.....

The Glasgow School: what is it all about?

The research is an attempt to discover whether Glasgow performance can be said to share any particular concerns of style. Through email interviews with various creators and interested parties, the research will assess whether there is a continuity of approach or concern.

By answering these questions, you will become part of my wider survey, and your words will help me to develop an overview. Your opinions will be attributed to you, with some detail about your own practice – your work is an example of work made in Glasgow, and helps to clarify the scope and object of my analysis.

You will not be asked to make any critical comments on other artists, except in terms of positive influence or association.

This will be explored in any essay format, and statistical charts, using your words as part of the research – the conclusions will be mine, but your contribution will be fully acknowledged.

The final dissertation will be submitted to the University and available for future researchers. Your contribution, if you so desire, can be released as part of my blog as a mini-article. You are welcome to make use of my work in any way that is useful...

Are there any aspects of your own work or practice that you feel are defined by Glasgow? If so, what are they and how would you describe Glasgow's influence?

Can you name any other Glasgow-based artists with whom you feel an affinity? What shared characteristics do you have with them?

If you had to describe Glaswegian performance in three sentences, what would these be?

Are there any events or festivals throughout the year that you would say are influential in developing particular sorts of work? This could apply to both theatre and non-theatrical events.
