We are a cross-cultural theatre company bringing to the Scottish stage stories of home, homelessness and being caught between languages and cultures. This year, we are part of the Scottish Refugee Festival, and their theme is SOLIDARITY.
We have put together a wee three-day programme for the festival in conjunction with SIG OHA (Settled in Glasgow Oral History Archive) at the Pipe Factory, and this is where YOU come into the picture!
There a two big opportunities for you to get involved, with the first being a workshop on storytelling (23rd of June) called ‘Telling the Untold, Sharing Your Story’.
Join us for a half day workshop, as we explore the telling of stories from near and far, and the most courageous and generous act of all: Telling one's own story, and asking that story how it wants to be told. This event runs from 10-1pm on the 23rd at the pipe factory, is free to attend but emailing leylinestheatre@gmail.com in advance to secure a place is essential.
On the last night of our event (24th of June), we will be running a Leynight; an evening of sharings, music, poetry, stories et cetera, and we were hoping you would like to be a part of it.
Our theme for the night will be CALLING A NEW LAND HOME, and looking at what you do, we thought you might get excited about the theme and want to share some of your work on the night.
The format is very free - we would love for you to share your material for about 10 minutes, and other than that, please hang around, talk to us and each other, and let us celebrate how we are all, at heart, more alike than different.
If you have something you would like to share, please get in touch with us at leylinestheatre@gmail.com. We will be putting together a programme for the evening, leaving plenty of slots open for people to rock up and grab the stage too.
If you are unable to attend, but know someone who perhaps would have something to share, please don't hesitate to spread the word. We will also be performing our piece ‘The Giant and her Daughter’ on the evening of the 22nd, so perhaps we will see you there!
